Reflections: the biestmilch dilemma!
Biestmilch might confuse you, I know that. Many times it happens to me that people ask me: ”But... can't you tell me in brief, what this biestmilch is all about,... what it actually does? My already very well-conditioned reaction is that I inhale deeply, tempted to say, »you know, the point is that things are very complex, and biestmilch per se is very complex as well. It does not follow the rules of linearity that we are so used to. You have to be ready to follow me into the world of complexity...« You probably can imagine that by then most of my audience has closed their ears already, deep inside shrugging but towards me politely nodding their heads. This is mine and the biestmilch's dilemma. Regardless, I won't stop to tell the story that created biestmilch. I will see whether in the coming future somebody will listen and not only listen but also believe in this story. To summarize it at this point: Biestmilch is extremely healthy, extremely adaptive, diverse, versatile and preventive. And it works in so many different contexts because of the pivotal role of inflammatory processes http://biest-blog.typepad.com/biest_blog/substance/index.html within our body. The biestmilch's advantage is also its dilemma: the dazzling diversity
Inflammation: basic life strategy

Today, a very smart girl friend of mine asked me, after I explained to her with my usual enthusiasm the basis I built the whole biestmilch concept on, to give her the same thing in writing. I will try now and would like to start out with an expression of one my professors from my medical studies I still appreciate very much.

Only two possibilities to react with: inflammation and tumor

One day he took me, who was so frustrated by the medical studies, aside and said: »Listen, my girl, remember one thing, it will make life in medicine much easier for you, if you understand one thing. There are only two ways the body can react with to all kind of offences: this is inflammation or tumors.«
I always kept his words in mind. During the years and the experiences I made my viewpoint only slightly changed. Today, I still am convinced that there are two apects one has to take in consideration:

Genetic defects and inflammatory processes

Those two induce or determine the course of all diseases we know.
In most of the cases the milieu is able to compensate for minor genetic deficits. But if chronic inflammation and genetic defects coincide unluckily, then a tumor or any other chronic disease may be the result.

Inflammation is the strategy of our body to survive the myriads of collisions of our body with the outside and the inside world that take place continuously. Imagine our body as spider web tightly knitted in some places and only loosely knitted in others. We are extremely permeable, the lungs, the gut, the skin huge areas of interaction, cooperation and collision.
The balance we need to stay alive is jeopardized every second. There are 3 major components that try to avoid and control the various threatening degradation processes in real time: the nervous system, the immune system and the hormones, all together they embody the stress system.
They continuously initiate and counterbalance the countless number of inflammatory processes in our body, that stand for the collision and coalition of our body respectively us with the world we live in.

Inflammation is a life principle

Inflammation is remedy and damage at the same time, because it is the initiator of all healing processes and harming agent in all diseases we know without exception. It is a life principle.  Whether it is a chronic infection, a tumor or a disease like multiple sclerosis or allergy, they are all basically the result of a deregulated stress system that leads to deteriorating inflammatory processes.

Biestmilch has anti-inflammatory capacities

Bietsmilch has an immediate acute regulatory potential as well as a longterm modulatory potential which means biestmilch influences the activity patterns of various chronic inflammatory conditions regardless of their cause.
Biestmilch is a modulatory agent that influences the body’s manifold activity states, its definite effects depending on the basic activity of the system as a whole.

Acquired training intolerance*: a longterm effect of a longdistance triathlon career?
Triathlon is a very young discipline. The period we overlook to assess the longterm consequences of a long and successful racing carreer is still very short. The performance of many of the top athletes around 35 and older began teetering recently, after they were successful for more than 10 years. They began training when they were 18 and younger. Over years they pushed their bodies to the extreme. Nobody considered or even knew anything about the aftermath. Now it seems longterm effects start showing in body and psyche. It really touches me if I see how hard athletes like Thomas Hellriegel or Lothar Leder try to reach the top again. They simply don't succeed and everybody seems to know that, only they themselves don't. They don't manage to make a break to recuperate mentally and with respect to their msucles. They loose self-esteem and everybody knows what it means to loose self-confidence. You cannot win without it. I found a very interesting article in the British Journal of Sports Medicine raising the problem chronic muscle damage. Most of these triathletes train 6 to 7 days a week. Training often begins 24-48 hours after a race. This despite the fact that repair processes after a marathon race for example take 1-10 weeks. Muscle damage occurs every day, even if it is only minor. Although the skeletal muscle has a remarkable capacity for repair and adaptation, research on exercise induced muscle damage, aging and overtraining suggest that this capacity is limited. A group of scientists around Noakes, Cape Town, South Africa, suggests that over the years there is a cumulative effect of repeated bouts of muscle damaging endurance training and racing, and potentially incomplete repair on skeletal muscle function and morphology. Case studies support an association between longterm high volume endurance training and racing and chronic skeletal muscle damage. Just for a sudden a decline in performance and an inability to tolerate high training loads occurs. The tragedy of this story, I outlined here only very briefly, is that data indicate that this process may be irreversible. A long and successful career may have a sudden end without a chance of a comeback? Maybe, nobody knows for sure by now! *Gobler LA, Collins M, Lambert MI, Sinclair-Smith C, Derman W, Gibson CStA, Noakes TD: Skeletal muscle pathology in endurance athletes with acquired training intolerance. EBV* infection spreads: biestmilch is an option!
Yesterday I received a phone call from one of our biestmilch customers who takes biestmilch because of his chronic EBV infection. He is an interesting guy to talk to. As he is working in an immunology institute, he knows a lot about the background of the disease. It is one of the very big point for biestmilch, if experts decide to take it. He says that biestmilch helps, but it varies conspicuously from person to person. Some profit in a way that they feel completely recovered, others become a lot better but the symptoms don't disappear. Acute EBV infection or kissing disease In the mid eighties I myself came down with a full-fledged acute EBV infection, the classical kissing disease. I felt bad and friends were joking cryptically. That's life, the laugh is always on the looser! An extraordinary promiscuous sex life was first of all associated with an EBV infection later in life. I avoid commenting on that now! In my case, it took at least 3 weeks till it was diagnosed. By physicians this infection was considered as very rare, especially in adults. They expected a disease of this kind only in immune compromised hosts and the acute form known as kissing disease in rare cases like me. The situation has changed. Many athletes suffer from chronic EBV infection Since I am working with biestmilch, I come along so many cases. Not the acute form but the chronic infection with the typical symptoms of complete exhaustion. Athletes who train a lot and provoke their immunity every day overreach and are thus extremely endangered to acquire a chronic EBV virus infection. Since we actively started promoting biestmilch in triathlon in 2002, I came close to so many athletes. I realized that the hard training, the exhausting competitions take their toll. It is not only gossip but sad reality. Some of them don't recover at all, are heavily handicapped because they took this disease too lightly in the beginning. What is outstanding for me is the fact that even though chronic EBV infection became a really common complication of hard training with insufficient recuperation peroids included, this disease is often diagnosed too late as blood parameters are not conclusive in all cases or not adequately interpreted, and on top of this symptoms are misjudged. Therapeutic approaches are poor and the sick athlete starts with training much too early. Relapses are therefore normal. Biestmilch is an excellent option to support recovery Biestmilch is improves immunity, it helps to balance a state of immunodeficiency which shows if you check your EBV antibody profiles. But nevertheless you have to obey certain rules: take a rest, don't overreach. If you train stay within the aerobic-anearobic threshold, don't speed up your pulse. I think it isn't healthy to torture yourself by keeping still because your used to move. But be carefull, pay attention to your pulse. *Epstein-Barr-Virus
The easy way out
Today was a long day, and as such the week was tough, therefore I am rather tired and allow myself to direct you straight away to a link which may support your journey through the internet. It is a link I got from Andy http://andywibbels.com/post/1200, thank you. If you don't need any special instructions for this application beforehand, then go right away to http://www.stumbleupon.com/. I think it is a convenient site for those of you who are surfing through the internet a lot, but are no maniacs. StumbleUpon can support your searches and interests, especially if you are always short with time.
Delivery is Crucial
I just read a post from Andy, Andy Wibbles http://andywibbels.com/, the person who gave me the final impusle to start our small business blog. This post http://andywibbels.com/post/1198 touched me because I agree 100% with Andy. On the other hand, I experience every other day how difficult it can be for an understaffed small business to meet ones own expectations. For me customer services have first priority. It is hard again and again to realize that you cannot always achieve your goals in this respect. Just recently we have launched a new internet shop. And what happened? We ran into a lot of problems that annoyed and still annoy our loyal customers and deter new customers. And the worst, it happened and I can only do very little to correct the mistakes. Those who turned their backs on us, are lost for us, most likely for ever. It is a painful experience to overreach oneself by not taking into consideration the restraints of ones specific reality that puts limits to ones dreams and visions. It is very simple, there are dreams but reality beats them. Even I should realize this, finally ;-).
Therapien gegen Menopause-Symptome
Quelle: Archives of Internal Medicine 166, 1453-1465 (2006).
