As you already know, I'm currently down under. Yesterday I had the first of several meetings planned for this week. Who was taking part is not relevant at this point. But what was remarkable is that I once again like so many times in my life was confronted with this kind of scrutiny from my counterpart that is casting basic doubts on what you are doing to question you as person. Are attacks of this kind launched to make you feel inferior? To cover up for the insecurity of the other? A sort of body checking? Male chauvinism or female feminism? Because sex here plays no role either.
I couldn't avoid it, I really felt cornered in that moment when the guy (refers to either sex too!) asked me: "Can you tell me in brief, what biestmilch does to me? And how it does this! Give me bullet points only..."
- ... bullet 1
- ... bullet 2
- ... and so on
The tone was relatively harsh. I almost gave in, the jet-lag, I had rarely slept the night before. It was not easy for me to stay focused.
To cut a long story short. I decided not to get into the bullet points story. Because for me I drew the conclusion that the whole issue was not about biestmilch and its mode of action, but about "the who is who and who is going to take over the lead in this game". So I just said, biestmilch makes you feel better depending on how basically feel... a provocative simple answer. But it went through because my voice was as harsh as the other's.
So, let's wait and see whether we meet at eye level next time.
