Visual word group presentation

Hey, guys from the grafic design world, is it worthwhile to consider this way presentation? For me as a content producer who knows too well how it feels, if people never read your stuff, I think one should eventually weigh up a solution of this kind. By the way, I never liked grouped style. But taking more space,it could be a much more costly way of presentation. Of course, it is worth the money, if people for a sudden read things they never used to read before, quality writing implied.

Four of the Nine Best Story Lines for Marketing apply to biestmilch.com

Today I want to refer back to Guy Kawaski's post about »The Nine Best Story Lines for Marketing« from which I think the first four match up the unique history of biestmilch.

When we started out in the beginning of 2000 one thing was very clear to us: the product story we were going to tell over the years yet to come must be excellent, exciting, unique and sustaining. Otherwise a company with so little capital and human resources like ours won't be able to launch this product.
In those days we were not aware of the fact that biestmilch is asking for pioneer work at its best. Now, after all these years of very hard work where mistakes, failures and success were and are still so closely related to each other, it seems to me that we belong exactly to those small businesses that are so typical theses days: small and flexible, self-exploiting putting a lot of efforts into building up trust and quality relations with the customers, and in the same time always on the edge of falling on either side of the ridge.

DAY Zero or the the implementation of a new database

Yesterday I was driving to our office in Austria at the lake of Constance - through heavy rain, as you can see underneath. We are currently implementing a new database here. Well, and we are curious to see which problems we shall run into. But anyhow, on top of this work with unpredictable outcome ;-) we had in mind to enjoy some hiking in the mountains on the weekend. But as it looks like heavy rainfalls are going to hamper our plans.

Laborexperiment: Volxkino in Wien

Rob Norfolk, 60, whose Internet business Nude Sandals is the first to sell the flip-flops in Britain, said: "If you wear them on the street virtually everyone turns round and stares. You can see them thinking 'How do they stay on?'

"Eventually someone plucks up the courage to ask and I often do a little dance to show they still stay on.
"They're not likely to work for more than a season, but they are a fun holiday accessory or something to wear after the beauty salon when you've just had your nails done.
"They do need more tender loving care than the usual sandal - a regular brush in soapy water to keep them sticky. And they work more easily with girls rather than heavy men, although mine are still working."

The flip-flops, which come in five designs, including beach, rainforest and aloha sunset, cost £12.50 each and are available in three sizes - small, medium and large.

No biz like showbiz... it doubtless is very important!
Invented in the U.S. and made in China, the flipflops without... have already proved a hit in Australia and Canada, where thousands of pairs have been sold.
Tash Archdale, 31, from London, who tested the flip-flops, said: "They feel surprisingly good - it's a really fun, spongey feeling. They went on ridiculously easily and didn't hurt or come off when I was walking."

Statistics: about our incapability to deal with uncertainty

Oxford mathematician Peter Donnelly explores the common mistakes we make in interpreting statistics, and the devastating impact these errors can have on the outcome of criminal trials. Statistical uncertainty and randomness, he says, confound many of our assumptions about the world. He shares the case of a British woman wrongly convicted of murdering her two infants -- a verdict reached, in part, by the misuse of statistics.

Uncertainty, randomness, chance... these are the territories of statistics, and they are tricky to deal with, not only for us non-experts. Logic of uncertainty is different, it is beyond that what we think is logic. Listen to this interesting talk. It is really elucidating, and gives evidence about the fact that statistics of uncertainty, randomness and chance is contextual too, is about defining and understanding relations among the players, parameters, facts - one name it - involved. A statistical figure evolves from relations that depends on the applied theoretical model.

Peter Donnelly is an expert in probability theory who applies statistical methods to genetic data -- spurring advances in disease treatment and insight on our evolution. He's also an expert on DNA analysis, and an advocate for sensible statistical analysis in the courtroom.
