It was a spectacular race for Ronnie. Before the race he was very cautious with any kind of predictions. Ronnie is not a cocky guy who takes his mouth too full. He knew that there was e.g. Mathias Hecht who in top form was able to beat him. But in the end it came as all the years before. On the run he decided the race. He crossed the finishline far ahead of Sven Sundberg and Mike Aigroz.

Biest athlete Ronnie Schildknecht won Ironman Switzerland for the 3rd time. His position in the front of the field was undoubted at any time. I had in mind to capture him, but he was much too fast for me. Finally, at the end of the race I wanted to get to the finishline to have some nice footage. I did not succeed, I was too slowly, he was too fast. Here a short video clip, just for fun. Sorry Ronnie!

It was a long day for biestmilch. We had left Wiesbaden 3:00 am in morning, arrived in Zurich at 7:00 am. The pros had just left for the swim. First person we ran into was Hannes and Andrea as usual with all their hearts for the athletes.

My intention was finally to shake hands with Ronnie. I did not succeed. I only managed to throw him a smile on the run. Later in the day when Ronie was about to cross the finishline the run course was so crowded that I did manage to get back to the finishline. I gave in, I was so tired as if all the travels and weekends that I have been around with Chris were suddenly taking over …
While some were running others wondered what this was all about
I am so sorry, Ronnie, that I did not make it. Congratulations for a great race, a race that was yours alone!
